The holidays have come and gone, leaving behind dreary weather and the anticipation of spring. With all the snow, ice, and cold wind, it gets tempting to go for sweats instead of a cute outfit. But don’t let the bad weather compromise your style! There are plenty of ways to bundle up and still look chic, as Kingsley Delacato, a sophomore at Rose Hill, demonstrates. An avid skier, finds fashion inspiration off the slopes as well! Her snow bunny style is keeps her warm and comfortable, without sacrificing style. She pairs fur boots with leggings and a wintery thermal, topping her outfit off with a chic fur vest and ski hat. I love the way she finds a balance between fashion and function. It’s a look that both effortless and stylish, and can easily be replicated!
To get a look like Kingsley’s, opt for a legging pant, such as these from Free People, that are thick enough to keep you warm and also come in a variety of colors. Leggings are a great wardrobe staple that make dressing comfortably easy without looking sloppy, can be worn through all seasons. Comfortable and form-fitting, thermals are perfect for winter style. Pick a festive one in a wintery print like Kingsley’s, or a more neutral color like these from Victoria’s Secret. They’re great for layering and extremely practical. To add some flair, Kingsley chooses a faux fur vest. As one of the biggest current trends, they can be found in many stores for reasonable prices. These vests from Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters will give you a similar look without breaking the bank. Faux fur vests can make any outfit trendy and work with every piece from pants to dresses. I got my own fur vest at H&M for $49.95 and it’s one of the pieces in my closet that I wear the most!
To pull her whole outfit together, Kingsley added a chic pair of snow boots that match her vest and add a bit of personal style. For trekking around the city and campus, I would recommend investing in a boot that is both stylish and weather-resistant like this Joan of Arcadia Boot by Sorel. By combining these versatile pieces, it’s easy to transform a comfortable outfit into something that still expresses your personal style. Warm weather will be here soon enough, but in the mean time let’s learn to embrace the cold and rock winter fashion!
